GTA 6 - VECCHILE CUSTOMIZATION
GTA 6 Vehicle Customization: How Deep Will Vice City's Garage Scene Go?
Grand Theft Auto has always let players make a car their own, but GTA 6 looks set to push that further than any game in the series. With Vice City drawing directly from Florida's lowrider, muscle car, and import tuning culture, customization isn't just a side feature this time — it's shaping up to be part of the world itself.
Here's what Rockstar has confirmed, what's strongly expected based on official pre-order details, and what's still pure speculation.
What Rockstar has confirmed
Rockstar's own pre-order and Ultimate Edition messaging has already given fans real, sourced details to work with — not just leaks. Official marketing copy confirms GTA 6 will support a broad range of artistic and performance-based vehicle mods, including the ability to change detailed interiors, upgrade rims, and apply donk-style modifications. The same materials reference unique add-ons like cab spoilers, rear aerials, and special liveries for certain vehicles.
The Ultimate Edition also unlocks two exclusive customization locations, and GamesRadar+ has reported that many more are likely to be spread across Vice City and beyond. Separately, other coverage has pointed to a confirmed mod shop referred to in-game as "Ride Out Customs," suggesting multiple customization venues tied to different neighborhoods or vehicle types rather than one central garage.
Confirmed so far:
- Interior customization, not just exterior cosmetics
- Rim upgrades and donk-style modifications
- Unique liveries, spoilers, and aerials on select vehicles
- At least one named mod shop ("Ride Out Customs")
- Multiple customization locations across the map
What's strongly expected, but not yet detailed
Beyond the confirmed basics, most GTA 6 coverage agrees on a likely shape for the fuller system, even though Rockstar hasn't laid out the specifics. Outlets tracking the game's vehicle roster generally expect the customization suite to expand on categories that were already present in GTA Online, including paint finishes, wheel and tire options, body kit and spoiler swaps, and performance upgrades like engines, brakes, and suspension.
Given Vice City's setting, several sources single out lowrider culture specifically, expecting hydraulics and Florida-style customization to play a larger role than in previous entries. First-person cockpit views are also expected to return, which several outlets tie to the emphasis on detailed interiors — a fully modeled cockpit only matters if there's something to see when you're sitting in it.
Reasonably expected, pending official confirmation:
- Full paint and finish options (metallic, matte, chrome)
- Engine, brake, suspension, and transmission tuning
- Lowrider hydraulics tied to Florida car culture
- Multiple mod shops offering different specialties
- First-person interior views tied to interior customization
Where it's still speculation
Some of the more ambitious theories floating around fan sites don't have official backing yet. Claims about a fully overhauled vehicle insurance and storage system, an in-depth "discovery" mechanic that tracks every vehicle a player has customized or collected, and adaptive AI traffic that reacts to a player's driving style all fall into this category. They're plausible extensions of systems Rockstar has used before, but as of now they're analyst and community theories rather than confirmed features.
It's also worth noting there's no confirmation of licensed real-world car brands. Like every prior GTA, vehicles are expected to use fictional manufacturers inspired by real ones — so customization options will likely be built around Rockstar's in-house brand universe rather than officially licensed parts.
Why it matters
Vehicle customization in GTA 5 and GTA Online became one of the series' biggest long-term engagement drivers, and Rockstar's own marketing language suggests they know that. The mention of interiors specifically is the most interesting confirmed detail — previous games mostly left cabin details static, so a system built around what you see from the driver's seat would be a genuine step up rather than just more paint options.
The real test, as several outlets covering the leaks have pointed out, will be whether customization affects more than looks — whether tuning choices change handling in meaningful ways, or whether Vice City's world reacts differently to a decked-out lowrider versus a stock sedan. Cosmetic depth is easy to market. Systemic depth is what will decide whether this is the most detailed garage system GTA has ever had, or just a wider paint chart.
Status key: "Confirmed" reflects Rockstar's own pre-order and marketing materials. "Expected" reflects analysis based on the series' history and current vehicle details. "Speculation" reflects fan and community theories without official backing. GTA 6 is set to release November 19, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
